Trump calls for unity in his speech to Congress, as he pokes his opponents in the eye by calling for fewer restrictions on the fossil fuel industry and business community in general, calling on Congress “to save Americans from this imploding Obamacare disaster”, calling criticism of and protests over excessive police force “pure, unadulterated division”,  continuing to put immigrants at risk by highlighting cases such as that of a young man “viciously murdered by an illegal immigrant gang member”, and calling for “one of the largest increases in national defense spending in American history”. Not to mention spreading more “alternative facts” by claiming that previous administrations have allowed “uncontrolled entry” by foreigners, and that most mass casualty attacks (terrorism and terrorism-related offenses) in the U.S. have been committed by foreigners.   If Donald Trump is trying to unite Americans, he clearly has no idea how to do it, as he seems more interested in steamrolling his opponents with extreme policy proposals than in reaching some kind of national consensus or compromise.
